My journey towards my career as a therapist started with my experience of being a client. Personal therapy has helped me to understand and know myself better, as well as strengthen my relationships. My interest in understanding myself then left me curious about understanding people.
Before retraining, I worked in education for 6 years.
I am currently in my final year (4 years) of training to become a psychotherapist at Physis Scotland.
The therapist and client relationship is very important to me and I believe it is the foundation of successful therapy and lasting change. This is because hurt is often caused by relational break down, either in the past or present, and/or because in childhood we may have experienced misattunements that led to significant lack of co-regulation. The therapuatic relationship creates a special space where these current and archaic hurts can be healed, as the client experiences new relationship alternatives.
Every client is unique, and I believe it is a privilege to hear your story and share your journey with you. My warm, open and gentle presence allows me to meet you where you are and for you to share your story at your own pace.
I am competent to work with a range of problems including:
-
Understanding yourself
-
Feeling stuck
-
Difficulties relating to others
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Grief and bereavement
-
Low self-esteem and confidence
-
Traumatic experiences
I am deeply passionate about connecting to nature and preserving our local environment. Working therapeutically outdoors can create greater possibilities for connectedness not just to other human's but the more than human. This also increases our sense of belongingness, opening us to a greater understanding of who we are as human beings. As a result I offer therapy both indoors or outdoors.
I receive personal therapy and supervision, in line with training and ethical requirements. I follow the EATA code of ethics.
I am a member of UKATA, EATA, UKCP and BACP.
